Abstract: The Marbling Effect is a thermal process for the exterior of electronic cigarette casings, utilizing PC/ABS material. The PC/ABS alloy combines the characteristics of polycarbonate (PC) and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene terpolymer (ABS), enhancing heat resistance, tensile strength, and reducing melt viscosity. This alloy finds extensive applications in automotive components, household appliance casings, and more. The principle behind creating the Marbling Effect involves the use of high-melting-point masterbatches. During the extrusion process, the masterbatch and PC/ABS form different flow rates, resulting in irregular pigment distribution, ultimately presenting a marble-like texture. By adjusting molding process parameters and masterbatch quantities, the color and intensity of the Marbling Effect can be customized.

1、PC/ABS材料

PC/ABS合金，是由PC（聚碳酸酯）和ABS（丙烯腈-丁二烯-苯乙烯三元共聚物）共混而成的热塑性塑料，结合了两种材料的优异特性，不仅能提高ABS的耐热性和拉伸强度，还可以降低PC熔体粘度，减少材料内应力，改善制品的加工性、提高低温抗冲击能力、耐化学性能。因而被广泛应用于汽车零部件、家电外壳、电器外壳、消费电子等领域。

2、流纹效果制作原理

流纹效果，又叫仿大理石纹理，其主要原理是采用高熔点色母粒，在挤出过程中，高熔点色母粒会和 PC、ABS形成不同流速，颜料不规则分布，最终形成流纹效果。

举个例子，PC/ABS 常见的成型加工温度是 230-240°C，在这个温度区间内，一般的色母粒载体树脂（如PE、EVA）会完全熔融，共混挤出过程中会形成统一流速，颜料就会均匀混合分布。

如果采用高熔点载体树脂的色母粒，如熔点在260°C的PA66，在230-240°C成型加工温度下没有完全熔融，通过调节注塑成型工艺参数、色母粒用量，就能调节 PC/ABS 流纹效果不同颜色及颜色深浅。
