Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has officially issued a regulation that sets a minimum retail price limit for electronic cigarettes and other processed tobacco products.
This is stated in the Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) Number 96 of 2024 which will come into effect on January 1, 2025.
The issuance of this regulation aims to control the consumption of tobacco products, protect the labor-intensive tobacco industry whose production process uses methods other than machines, and to increase state revenue.
Referring to the attachment in the policy, the government has set an increase in the retail selling price of electronic cigarettes, even though there is no increase in excise rates.
The following are the minimum retail selling prices for electronic cigarettes and other processed tobacco products:
Electronic Cigarette Prices
1. The price of solid electronic cigarettes is IDR 6,240 per gram or an increase of 6.01%
2. The price of Open System Liquid Electronic Cigarettes is IDR 1,368 per milliliter, or an increase of 22.03%
3. The price of Closed System Liquid Electronic Cigarettes is IDR 41,983 per cartridge, or an increase of 5.99%
Other Tobacco Processing Products
1. Molasses Tobacco Rp. 257 per gram, increased by 6.19%
2. Inhaled Tobacco Rp. 257 per gram, increased by 6.19%
3. Chewing Tobacco Rp. 257 per gram, increased by 6.19%
